Coming Up Over the Rise (extended version)
Keith Landry
Sometimes, all you need to do is decide that you’re gonna save yourself.
COMING UP OVER THE RISE
So low I couldn’t see the skies
The shadows had me hypnotized
Climbing high, sun in my eyes
I was down, but now I’m coming up over the rise
I spent the last weeks of October living in the past
With those who’d come before me and everyone who’s gone
But the longest night in autumn cannot last
It’s always darkest just before the dawn
I was so prepared to eulogize
Now there’s no need to sympathize
You can see redemption in my eyes
I was down but now I’m coming up over the rise
Yesterday, the darkness came so fast
Falling back can make November so hard to adjust
But looking at the blackness through my half-filled glass
The reflection showed me someone I could trust
So low I couldn’t see the skies
The shadows had me hypnotized
Climbing high, sun in my eyes
I was down, but now I’m coming up
I was so prepared to eulogize
Now there’s no need to sympathize
You can see redemption in my eyes
I was down but now I’m coming up over the rise
