Head On
Letter Seventeen
The story of a car crash.
Had the dream again this morning
Pictured just how it would be
Saw it moving in slow motion
Felt it rushing up to me
And suddenly it’s happening
I can’t seem to make myself believe
Clench my fists
Lose my grip
The world runs through to meet me head on
Happened quicker than expected
I blinked and thought it was gone
As if I’d imagined the whole thing
I’m not moving but the music’s still going
The song is ringing in my head
I try to shake it once again
I find myself out in the rain
Looking for a friendly face
And suddenly it’s happening
This isn’t quite how I thought it would be
Clench my fists
Lose my grip
The world runs through to meet me head on
An inconvenience
Perhaps a mis-direction
Comes a time where the lines become blurred
Sometimes when you get what you want
You find out that the truth really hurts
If I try to remember
Nothing comes back to me
Like a thumb across the lens now
Six seconds seems an eternity
And suddenly it’s happening
I can’t seem to make myself believe
Clench my fists
Lose my grip
It’s time for you to meet me head on
