a song about an old flame that just won't burn out. it's a ballad of sorts, with a harder ending. i did this in about 7 hours. in the middle section i am playing guitar without a pick for the first time in a recording (big deal hey?)

it IS a big deal in my book. took me years to try it on electric. After I saw Sonny Landreth doing it I had to try. I'm glad I did, - now to listen. CJV
my tribute to a very underrated, underappreciated band. 40 yrs ago thier self titled lp came out, and i cover one from the lp as a tribute on thier 40th anniversary. im not a lead guitarist, and a new singer, so please bear with me on that.

this is based on an improve from back in jan 75, then guitarist - chris laid this riff out and i never forgot it. it was the first time i was in a band as a bassist. the rest of the riffs are mine and everything else disastrous done in this song…

Hahaha! I like the opening riff too! That's a hilarious back story. It must be from a long time ago if Chris was still playing in 12 TET. Whoot! I actually used the phrase "12 TET"!
Cool ending too. Well done.

Wow, psychedelic! I dig the stereo vocals, but I'd really like to hear all the vocals panned dead center... very cool track reminiscent of B.O.C. *Rock On!*

thanks, i think you mean the key solo, i decided not to try thier solo and do my own almost inna godda da vita, type keys. also in the second go round of vocals, i made the guitar chord play backwards for the background.
this insrumental was written by chris v. in i think less than a few hours. he let me hear it, i did, and liked the challenge on drums. i listened to it once, then decided to record my drums to it. so we put this together within 24 hours. wasn…
I’m new to the game of life, still so much to learn
It hasn’t been so easy but I’m not about to sit and moan
Peace and love has always been the foundation of my soul
You can’t make me
You can’t take me
Or break me from my goal
Ohhhh…

i wrote this song back in aug. sat down and improvised while recording which is how i always write songs. finished it yesterday and it is my first solo single in 11 years. i do rough demos, not gonna spend too many hours on a song and possibly ruin it. not a perfect recording nor performance. if for whatever reason, i could always go and redo a song. ts a subtle summary of the trip i was on called life.
i started this song in may, finaly got it done. much too much going on in my life.
the big thing is i will be moving out of state. packing everyday and no longer have
any time nor access to my music or instruments. this one was done but sitting…

one of my fav moody's songs.
it would have turned out far better if i had a melotron. (i wish!) this is an ecological song.
i had it running in my head for the last week, and so much so it was also playing in a dream i had,
so i figured it…
here is my cover of the turtles covering the byrds with - you showed me. one of the mellower songs i've done in my collection of creations.
i spent many hours on it, there is a harmony blunder very briefly, about half way through but other than…
chris. in this one i used no fuzz no distortion, i had considered it but i didnt want it too heavy. i used amplifier vsts. and brought down the distortion and pre amp, etc. even for the leads. if i used my fuzzes and distrotion vsts, it would have been heavy heavy heavy! i wanted it closer to what cooper was doing.
actually this is early 76. prob about late may. i recall cause we just got steve in the band, and already he was talking to mohsen about kicking me out of the band. go figure!

Apocrypha is a progressive rock song in the sense of Rush more than ELP or Yes. I had come up with the guitar and via my GR-20 the strings - everything else you hear was performed by my long time collaborator Frank Miller (Phantasm777) - so that…

With Frank Miller on drums and bass as the band "2" - a rescue of a late 90's song grabbed from 4-track.

do you mean the middle - blues part? thanks.
interesting hearing this version. I of course remember playing the guitar parts. I really like what you did with the middle here! - cjv
no the middle jazzy part is
so the distorted part is w/o a pick? How unusual! Very 70's sounding - very floaty - cjv

the self titled is a fantastically awesome album. one of my favorite albums of all time :)
excellent - never heard the original but I love what you've done here.
thanks !

Sounds like authentic early prog! And I love that vocal mix! Super inventive.
Wow, psychedelic! I dig the stereo vocals, but I'd really like to hear all the vocals panned dead center... very cool track reminiscent of B.O.C. *Rock On!*
also - you have an astounding memory!
Ha - this riff is mine? I sure don't remember it - now I feel embarrassed about my comment :-)
Great piece of heavy rock, awesome drumming
Wild tune , nice work.
excellent! I love the opening guitar riff and cool ending!
Very Nice!

well done!

surreal appeal!
one more thing - from the line - even life ended. i improvised the lyrics and the melody line live. first time i ever did that in a song.

this was my last song before my 10 yr hiatus, but i am back.
my first "comeback" song after a 10 yr hiatus, thanks to chris.
thanks for the listen!
thanks chris, do you mean my bass playing is getting closer to how I played back then? I really want to get those skills back! slowly but surely!
the wizard would be kinda hard with no harmonica.
damn! i thought i did a pretty good job on this one! ahhh well!

it was fun and surprising. it turned out better than i had hoped.

actually it was finger strumming rather than picking
do you mean the middle - blues part? thanks.
no the middle jazzy part is
i think this went well, but then, i am a bit partial! :)
thanks !
