Thunderstorms Pass Through, Summer Heat Wakes Cicadas To Brings Forth Revelry

Track three of my RPM 2026 project.
For the transition into the heat of summer I started with the ideas of thunderstorms and cicadas. I used the Thunder and Weather presets from the Deluge preset design contest that was held when version 1.2 of the community firmware was released about a year ago (which was what ended up interfering with my ability to complete my goal for the RPM challenge that time). I used the Clave-Drum DX7 preset from the spring track plus a clavinet style DX7 preset. I put together a custom drum kit with some vintage drum machine percussion sounds such as conga, bongo, shaker, rim shot, and tambourine, along with some other miscellaneous samples for a guiro and kick drum. The Minilogue xd provided two of my presets, some synthy strings, then my Cicadas pad preset. I took the Acid-Nu preset on the Typhon and modified it extensively to mellow it out and reduce the effects. I played a sequence with that live onto the Deluge and then refined it a fair bit to add some embellishments and fine tune where the envelope would re-trigger or not. Then in the final recording, I turned the LPF cutoff and resonance knobs to make it sing.
