Sundown

This song was a favorite of a dear friend we lost a year ago. It felt like a good song to practice the piano. This was the first try – not that it was good, but it just kept getting worse.

The vocals sound distant because they are… the microphone is a good five feet away otherwise it picks up the keys thumping on the piano. Somehow the distance feels right though….

Sundown

Say a prayer for me. Remember I breathe,
Grown up twisted in a place you can’t see.
The planet has poisoned me. It’s a sick place to be.
I’ve got a taste for it now, but I’ve got to leave.
Sun’s going down on me.

The world is faking every deal that it makes, every handshake.
Sometimes crazy people come into my space. They make me handshake.
This planet is more fucked up than I’ll ever be.
But I’ve got a taste for it now that I have to leave.
Sun’s going down on me.

Shine on. Shine down on me.

I'm not a stickler for pristine recordings....in fact, there are albums that I insist sound BETTER on old vinyl. This recording is soulful, raw and terrific. Well done.

Stunningly good and heartfelt. Swordfishtrombones vibe!
