Back on Track (2022 Version)

The Quarantine Tunes thing is definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel. I am supposed to be pulling songs from old recording projects and updating and (theoretically) improving them. After five rounds there isn’t a whole lot left to use for round six.

This one was part of my failed 2010 RPM Challenge. It was started in February of 2010 but it wasn’t finished until about August of 2011. It’s brutally simple as it’s just one riff repeated through out and even the melody in the verse and chorus are pretty much the same except for the chorus being up an octave.

For the re-recording I upped the tempo a smidge and put tons of fuzz on the rhythm guitars. I also added the vocal harmonies to try and differentiate between verse and chorus a little more. It sort of works if you squint a little.

The rhythm guitar tracks are my Les Paul Standard into an Earthquaker Devices The Depths into a Wren and Cuff Tri Pi 70 into a Klon KTR into a Fender Bassbreaker 18/30 (on the 18 watt channel). The leads are the same Les Paul Standard into a Real McCoy Customs RMC10 wah pedal into a Ryra The Klone into a Keeley D&M Drive (just the Dan side) into a Fender Bassbreaker 15.

Verse 1
sort of misguided
misdirected
out of my element
practically negligent

Forgot my mission
abandoned
my focus was elsewhere
lost in the glare

Verse 2
On the back burner
background murmur
months pass by
no reason why

forgot my purpose
feeling kinda nervous
wait another day
just put it away

Chorus
Back on track now
guns a blazing
all of my energy
and all of my effort

No more distractions
No more delays
No more indecisions
This all ends today

Ending
This all ends today

Saved!
