timothy & the tramp - by simeon psimian
timothy and the tramp
as timothy walked past marks and spencer’s
the muttering tramp stood up and looked him
squarely in the eye and said:-
i have seen the great
bear
crouching on his haunches
in his cavernous mountain lair
and i have heard him
growl
timothy said, why have you picked on
me to tell these things?
the tramp replied, i can tell
by the way that you walk
and the set of your smile
that you have lived inside
the hive of the bumblebee
and you have felt her
sting
the tramp said, i can tell
by the smell of your aura
you’ve been wading in honey
but prithee tell me sir
don’t you sometimes find yourself
longing for something
with a little more
bite?
i for my part find that i grow
weary of my wandering
walking in the windy winding
ways of the wilder-
-ness
now i watch through windows
and i hang around in high streets
hoping for a glimpse of something
sweet
