a perfect mix sticks out to me, I keep it on my nightstand
it was bliss on disc, and it’s comfort in my hand
it’s played my favorite songs before, I know they’re on it somewhere
the scratches on its silver may as well not even be there

oh, I’ll put it on in my mind
only the music can make me feel right
hocket me into the timbres so tight
maybe I’ll get a wink tonight

I stick it in the tray sometimes, and hope things will be different
but still it skips, and it stops before it’s meant
with matters that concern the perfect blend to disappear in
common sense has a way of seeming like a villain

oh, I’ve played it all in my head
so many times that the novelty’s dead
I just want to hear it for real again
it seems strange to feel like some songs are my friends
