shadow of the sun
tim mcfate
start here at the airport
feels like im going blind
middle of the day in a dark bar
1000 miles away from peace of mind
im tring to remember
when i was a kid
did the sun set in my back yard
i think it did
what comes before and goes on after
long hair or short hair
but always intense
the only thing thats goint to suffer
is on the other side of the fence
its snowing in moline
every ones asleep
the planes waiting on the paddock
and a feeling starts to creep
somewhere over milwalkee
some tears escape my eye
rolls down my cheek
a little baby cries
what comes before and goes on after
i can see my father
a drink in his hand
sun setting behind him
on our acre of land
when we going to eat i ask
im only about ten
he looks at his glass and he says
two more inches
you should have the picture
of him rising from the dead
no order , no rhyme, no reason
it was everything he said
empty bed five feet up off the floor
im missing all the laughter
i just cant open that door
ill try to keep my family happy as
spring hits the air
i can see my father
a drink in his hand
sun setting behind him
on our acre of land
when we going to eat i ask
im only about ten
he looks at his glass and he says
two more inches
Man this is incredible. The off kilter feeling of the music belies the deeply personal lyrics. Like being in a funhouse with a slanted floor, but someone is crying in the distance.
