Some straight-up tenor sax, starting off somewhat tuneful but eventually wandering, as tends to happen.

Two different contact mic recordings; one on a high-tension electricity pylon, the other on a metal bridge frame. Both were processed with the same noise reduction sample, silences removed, then stretched to double length. Submitted to Sound-In…

Pink noise setting on Mini-Moog that seems to be malfunctioning slightly (sweeping sounds shouldn't happen). Effected by running it through noise reduction, the profile of which was taken from sounds of a tenor saxophone. Right channel is a reverse…

Monophonic recording of a bowed balanced contact mic (two piezo elements glued onto a small piece of wood and connected to the hot and cold of an XLR mic cable) clamped onto the front of a small acoustic guitar body (no neck or strings).

I liked the way Texturetest turned out, as a modification of a very short sax improvisation, so decided to stretch it even more than that one - ten more times!

Not quite the kind of sounds I was hoping for, but decided to use them anyway. Contact mics placed on a high-tension electrical pylon on a windy day. One mono recording mixed with a stereo recording from a few minutes later. No post processing…

Double tracked cymbal with rubber mallet. I wasn't sure I liked how the first take went, so tried it again. Still couldn't decide which I preferred, so decided to overlap them. Each was recorded in two track mono, so panned them 30% either side…

One of those test pieces that seems good enough to save. Voice into EHX Stereo Memory Man into Zoom RFX-300. The words are actually backwards.

A bunch of screaming kids out the back, so I decided to get out the horn and honk along. Used some noise reduction to get rid of some droning background, which caused a rather nice ringing sound. Chopped out a fair bit of resulting silence too.

First attempt at running a Mini-Moog through a Cry Baby wah-wah pedal. Sound setting was pink noise, with modulation added to the filter about half way through.

Trombone, with a foil pie plate wrapped over the bell as a sort of ringing mute. Got the idea from seeing Michael Snow do it with a trumpet back in the '70s. Submission to Sound-In, 14/5/2020

Ok, this now relatively short piece started out much longer; almost two hours. The sounds were obtained by placing two contact mics at different points around the rim of a circular light fixture in my apartment ceiling to get sounds created by…
