Elizabeth's Room
Acoustic tale recorded Christmas 2010.
I wrote it years ago. Even tried rehearsing it with the band I was in at the time. But I couldn’t play it properly. It took several weeks of practicing DADGAD (never really used it in anger before) until I was prepared to give it a go this time.
I actually ordered an electric double bass to use on this, but the delivery got delayed and I ended up finishing before it arrived! I’ve jammed along with the EDB since then, and I couldn’t find anything worth adding to this recording so I’ve left it as is :-)
Elizabeth’s Room - A A J Russe
If I was sat in Elizabeth’s room
I wonder what I would say
She’d make the tea
And smile nervously
We’d both look the other way
Could I put into words
The things on my mind
Would I open my mouth too soon
Is she nervous of me
What would I see
What would I be
In Elizabeth’s room
One sugar and a small dash of milk
Oh, I’ll take it however it comes
Forgive how I stare
Now I’m aware
That I’m
In Elizabeth’s room
It might be next door
For all that I know
Or off on the other side of town
I won’t be deceived
I just can’t believe
I will find myself
No, not in Elizabeth’s room
I wonder what I would say

Missed this thing of beauty ....love your voice as always....great playing too...thanks Slkrell
Andrew , Great tune. Super vocal. Gag I like it Dad.
One of my middle names is Elizabeth, so this is automatically cute to me. Don't really have words, I just really like it. Good job!
I won't repeat what I said at Songcrafters. You know I love this song. And all the others ... :)
Think this melody would translate magically to a music box. Beautiful and bittersweet song. My, your vox are astounding.
Great voice and playing. I'd offer to swap some of my guitar expression for some of your vocal expression, but your guitaring is cool as well :)
What a tune...what an imagination you have! I love the tone on the guitar, not to mention the playing. Great vox and background harmonies. This is just awesome. Very impressed.
