If Anybody Noticed (acoustic demo)
Andrew Russe
Song-writing Demo for FAWM 2025
Song number 05
Written 8th Feb
Demo recorded 8th Feb
I was writing this from about 1am this morning before I went to bed, then on and off in between takes on the demos of the previous three today.
It’s one of my favourites so far - but I always like the “crying into your gin” songs.
If Anybody Noticed - A A J Russe
If anybody noticed
They were too polite to say
But still they must have wondered
Why you went away
I found the water running
The backdoor still ajar
All we heard was laughter
And the motor of a car
I could have maybe run
But I didn’t
I should have maybe called
But I couldn’t
Perhaps I could have stopped you from going
But I didn’t try
The neighbours brought you flowers
To celebrate your special day
But I was too embarrassed
To admit you’d gone away
She’s visiting her sister
I was lying to explain
When I heard the backdoor open
And you come home again
I could have maybe run
But I didn’t
I should have maybe smiled
But I couldn’t
Perhaps I could have shown how I felt
But I didn’t try
If anybody noticed
They were too polite to say
But still they must have wondered
What it was that made you stay
Still they must have wondered
What it was that made you stay

Wow! This one really hits a deep emotional chord. Your writing is superb as usual, but this spare arrangement just feels like raw emotion. An instant fav!!!
oh my, another beauty! Your voice is out of this world. The wee hours are great for creativity. The structure of this song is great and the melody!!! Bravo.
