Solfeggietto/Metamorphosis

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was the second of three sons of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was a crucial composer in the transition from the Baroque and Classical periods in music, directly influencing Mozart and Haydn, while retaining Baroque elements that his father had set forth in the 17th century.

The Solfeggietto was originally a short, solo keyboard piece, originally in C minor, frequently performed as an encore piece in present-day recitals. The version presented on this recording has a twist: the prominent American jazz clarinetist, Eddie Daniels, recorded the work with orchestra (orchestrated by Argentine composer Jorge Caladrelli) in 1985. The version on this recording is unaccompanied, and was transcribed from a live performance that Mr. Daniels did with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra shortly after the release of the original recording. I just liked this version better!
