The Land We Call Tara Studio Recording
Colleen Dillon
I wrote this song about 2 years ago and shared it here on Alonetone back then. I decided to do a studio recording of it recently. With the help of the team at F5 Soundhouse here in Minneapolis we’ve created this updated version. I hope you enjoy this version too!
The Land We Call Tara
If I was to write just one Irish song
To sing with my good friends all the year long
It’d be of green clovers, whiskey and Yeats
Poetry, music, and warm fires of peat
Poetry, music, and warm fires of peat
We’d come together to have a wee pint
The Guinness between us, good stories all night
The fiddle would sing with the drums steady beat
Tapping along with the shoes on our feet
Tapping along with the shoes on our feet
Someone would start a warriors’ lament
We’d cry in our cups for the lives that were spent
Freedom from the troubles America called
Away from oppression our children did crawl
Away from oppression our children did crawl
The song will bring us to the place we’d call home
Happy there now or by a dream in a song
One place we all know we will always belong
The land we call Tara is calling us home
The land we call Tara is calling us home

I love the way you tweaked it so Yeats rhymes with peat. ;-) Love the imagery throughout! Just the brand name Guinness evokes so much on it's own, then "warriors' lament", "cry in our cups", et al. Thank you for another great listening experience, Colleen. :)
