SDCompo round 93
Funny thing about this tune is the first draft was an entirely different animal. This version formed toward the end of the round and came together in 5 days.
This one actually placed first.
Once upon a time there was an online music competition called the Soundevotion Compo or SDC for short. It was more my thing because each round was a month long instead of the more typical week long, day long, or even one or two hour long compos…

Getting back to my roots here. This is almost a one-synth song, with most of the parts played by my then newly acquired Hive (mwa ha ha haaaa!). Also features TAL's Bassline 101, which is an excellent SH-101 in VST form, and numerous Voxengo…
This is one of my more agressive industrial-ish tunes. There's also an orchestral version done by vaisvil; it should be somewhere in his gigantic list of tracks...I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

A story about waking up from a nightmare only to find you're in another nightmare. Told in a eerie, floaty downtempo breakbeat voice, shining a flashlight upward on my face for extra creepiness.
Recursive dreams are really bizarre.

A dark trance/industrial/drone tune inspired by that bizarre feeling just before you really fall asleep, but after you're no longer quite awake. Being hunted by something too terrible to imagine, just beyond the edge of the shadows where you…

why did we migrate to this venue, but excellent tempting me to do an industrial work,.. but,.. well,.. i am suck in serial experimentations combinations and permutations aaaa i think, but yes I still like that industrial workings.

I love the fill at 1:40 that sounds like it should build into a nice hard vibrato Kim Thayil solo. The bridge that kicks in at 2:16 is an excellent addition to a solid theme. My only gripe is the crash being panned hard left. I think it either needs less extreme panning or some reverb panned half way to the right to help balance its place in the mix.
This is cool, but I like the wet version more. Whatever effects you ran things through softened some of the harshness and created a pleasing cavern of depth.
yeah the supernova II has very powerful beat creation tools.. like a-h letters of preprogrammed drum mappings going on— and a way to work with them I have never bothered with being a zero beat kind of person– so I took a little time out to put…

Some say this song is about a woman. To me it is a place. A place with cool breezes ruslting the leaves above and soft grass below. A place on our farm where I would play as a boy, and it became a refuge after a day of tossing hay bales around…
More ambient experimentation with my fretless guitar and Roland GR20. This time I used some sounds from the magnetic pickups as well as the midi pickup. Kind of a cheesy synth patch I know, but it was working for me!
Comments on Din's stuff
Guess I'll be checking some more of your stuff. Like the vibe, Very lounge-esc.
I like the choice of instrument. Nice flow.
Good to see you around these parts again! Enjoying your music with attitude!
nicely balanced :) === the drums enter just at the right time- 000 - guitar and synth guitar is greatly mellow-
pretty
Hive seems to be at Hive 2 now.. Hive 1 has upgraded, I will keep this in mind.. :) thanks-
quite powerful --- like future music... but it is now. really-
DIN ! Nice to see you, thought for a sec on was on TiS ;)
good job.
I do say it seems you've added a great deal more Tension since the last revision I heard.
Always loved this song! Here is the CSO version http://alonetone.com/vaisvil/tracks/tension-acoustic-orchestral
Love it!

This is a fabulous foundation for a rocking tune. I'm trying to figure out what vocal style would fit, though. I'm thinking Layne Staley.
That double kick is insane!! The break at 2:11 is a nice touch, especially where it builds at 2:27.
Fantastic jam :)
I'm getting that Soundgarden vibe again :) Great jam.

I actually like this, which is unusual for most microtonal music I listen to (sorry). Your guitar has very good tone, too.
Phrygian is one of my favorites :) But Dorian is my absolute favorite mode. Good jam.

The name alone screams: PLAY ME! Great rhythmic ambient...or whatever it might be called.
Keep 'em coming, dude. Nice work with dynamics this time.
I love how you stay away from boring 4-on-the-floor drum lines :) You've got a good layering of harmonies here.
Very cool, my good man :) Nice change up at the end, too.
make that 2:50
I love the drumming that starts around 3:00 :)
Very charming and intimate :)
Excellent. Reminds me of Vangelis off of Blade Runner, and that's not cheesy ;)
Very nice. Sounds like the music track for a Chaplin or Keaton silent movie.
