Blown, trudging through snow,
all alone, even though it seems
a ten part team
one downstream
a fever dream.
Replayed in numerous ways,
forced to stay, as the path re-vamped,
tightens the clamp
setup camp
as day breaks away.
Forgo, light to shadow
Exposure proposed
oh, options froze
Could be a new low.
Flee ambiguity,
As safety recedes
Nothing guaranteed
as the snow falls down
Altered state of mind,
Canvas cut from inside,
Boots left behind,
a rush into the night,
minus Fahrenheit, and out of sight,
Climb five meters high
A look for supplies
As groups spread apart,
Using cedar bark
To catch a spark, as friends fade to dark.
Forgo, light to shadow
Exposure proposed
oh, options froze
Could be a new low.
Unknown compelling force,
Or some other source,
For the change in course,
as the snow falls down
Traveling from trucks to skis,
Through a cameras lens,
Diaries and poetry,
Breaking bread with friends
Hiking toward certification,
Smart and capable kids,
With focused determination,
What went amiss?
And still no explanations exist.
Footprints across the incline
Frozen in time, the sun’s reflective shine
Blinds the clouded reveal,
Just what is real.
And where to draw the line.
Forgo, light to shadow
Exposure proposed
oh, the options chose
Never let go.
Life, reunites,
in black and white, but nothing comes to light,
and still the snow falls down.
