that tickles. makes me think of that scene in "The Man Who Knew Too Little" with the Explosive Russian Nesting Thingy -- only Bill Murray is surrounded by a gang of marionette robots doing the Mamushka.
cheers glu for your comment. its taken me a while to get back to you. sorry. Glad you like it.
and this track of yours rocks. i often download your stuff. the Bush stuff is cool man.
Absolutely love this one. Whole new feel to your music is accomplished with the new sounds. Beats are trademark, but melody is great with elephant instead of a synth. The best trumpet nature can provide.

lyrics:
what’s happened to our city
where has she gone
another vertical building
built over more homes
in enclaves of exclusion
where the American dream is an American illusion
in this despotic system
it is hard to resist them
but…
I agree with Einstein that we cannot 'will' anything, the concept is religious at best(gulp). But you can change your paradigm,
I am certain Einstein's paradigm changed with his theory of relativity, no? The song was intended for avid fans of political change re-examine their own role in the democratic process, you cannot vote for change in this system, just as you cannot 'will' change...
but you can change the way you see the world.
Somehow missed this one. I'm wondering these days how much we truly can change our paradigm. Pondering this reminds me of my favorite Einstein quote:
"I don’t believe in the freedom of the will. Schopenhauer’s saying, that a human can very well do what he wants, but can not will what he wants, accompanies me in all of life’s circumstances and reconciles me with the actions of humans, even when they are truly distressing. This knowledge of the non-freedom of the will protects me from losing my good humor and taking much too seriously myself and my fellow humans as acting and judging individuals."

I love this track though!!

Sounds are 100% birds, bats, and squirrels.
Even that upstairs neighbor bangin' kick-
it's actually a bird call that I ran through a filter, pitched down and thrown into the
animal drum kit.
I spent the day skrewing around with this Roumanian Minor scale again. I am really testing layered drums on this one, Toms mostly.
There's a lot happening. Acoustic, Strat, Bass, 4 Juno tracks, and all kinds of percussion.
Only a two chord change…
maybe a good place to start is 'brainstorms' playlist to check out stuff I've played. It certainly can be difficult navigating through the pages. cheers, and thanks for the question!
I'm not sure what you've heard or not, but I always specify in the track descriptio when someone else is playing something, and I usually list the instrumentation when it's more than synth+drum programming. If all you've heard are songs with samples from other folks then you haven't heard much... the majority of tunes with real instruments are performed by me. You may here me playing any of the following: two acoustic guitars, electric guitar (usually played with a bow) violin, fretless bass, 7 different bamboo flutes, 4 clay flutes, didgeridoo, kalimba, I was borrowing two tablas and a tambourine from a friend but I had to return them. Also play the kitchen sink, keys, pots and pans, hooves and other household items.
DISCLAIMER: I do not claim to be good at any of these instruments! :-)

Narrative: A lonely scientist was stationed to Tundzha Glacier in Antarctica to study fissures.
Instrumentation: I stretched, repitched, and looped two sections…
thanks everyone for all the thoughtful comments, and thanks Su for privileging me with that wonderful piano performance. @ Drakonis: love the pun haha. The 'ebow' part is an actual bow over electric guitar strings, but I wish I had an ebow- they can sound amazing. @ K. Scot Sparks: man you have some amazing sounds and moods, would love to bring some elements together. Hook a brotha up with some stems!
Melodic, peaceful, and trance-inducing instrumental. Used a synth clav as the underlying thematic instrument, then layered a few other things on top. The "guitar" counter-melody at the end is me playing a bass in the upper registers.

A long meditation/wank.
This weeks guitar lesson we started looking at melodic minor modes. I went home and started practicing scales. Wasn't long before I got stuck on Dorian flat 2. So I fired up the looper and recorded a session.
Funny…
From the archives. Traditional Irish slow air. Myself on the Uilleann pipes with synth backing. This was recorded at a concert here in Weston back in I think '92. Originally recorded on an ancient 4 track machine and then transferred to cassette…

A little study using Dmin6 and Dmin7 with a little D dorian dressing.

Poured myself a small cup of acoustic guitar, half finger picking, half ebow. Nothing fancy, nothing magical, nothing fantastical, just something to relax through.

diggin the lyrics
Whole new meaning to "When Doves Cry" ;) I take it you got a new toy?
very nice bro!
I'm a sucker for any tune built out of natural sound - and this fits the bill quite nicely!

Woah, the kick in this one sounds like my upstairs neighbors banging on the floor.
Love those fingersnaps at 2:44 and that explosion at 3:22. This track is really something.
