Dad wanted me to write him some funeral music. This is it. He's still alive at 91 and sings this song to himself and tears come to his eyes. I have a video of Dad and me singing a duet of this song.

It's great the way you remember so many of the details of your life.
You so beautifully weave bits of memory into a story cloth. Every line holds my attention always waiting for your next thought.
Thanks again for sharing your amazingly human and heartfelt stories.

Song well done and voice good. Guitar and chords very nice. Not sure about the way words fit, or something, sounds too much like a commercial. Just a collection of facts.

Now here's a bit of an oldie - the second song I ever wrote. In... 1978!
I think I played it once, or maybe twice, at school assemblies. My musical peers and colleagues back then dismissed it as corny/rancid pop music…
Love is always a teeny bopper thing. You capture it here. I have learned never to dismiss a song just because someone dismiss it, too. I had no idea how beloved I PLAY C would become. And thank you for listening commenting on my Shorts.

A track over twenty years in the making. I came up with it sitting in front of the TV with an unplugged borrowed Rickenbacker 360 (thanks, Mark). The Santana vibe just happened. I made a four track cassette recording of it just to get it down…
Originally recorded for my 2019 RPM Challenge album, "The Dark Side of the Moo." This is how I cry musically.
I added some verbs, an additional minor organ line, tweaked the bass, and remixed it on 09.05.20.

That's kinda what happens when we listen to songs anyway - no matter how much the lyrics are designed to lead us to certain conclusions or "points of view"... a song never really says what the songwriter thinks it says ... but these short ones encourage this "listener completes the song" process even more, they let my mind run free ... love it.

Comments on James Michael Taylor's stuff
Great great James. I like the picture you took of him thru the window on FB.
Wonderful that you got to do this while he's still around to appreciate it!
This is really beautifully done.
Well, at least you know who you are, that's a lot more than some.
Great song James!
Love it James!
Dig it! Oh yeah.... LG
Beautiful song, Jim.
honesty and info rolled into a nice melodic thread. enjoyed very much. Telsa. thanks JMT!
Right on, I would say.
Good stuff, James!

love the stumbling drunk feel to the bass and drums great vocal
Wow, great choir, James! This song sounds like a soundtrack of a historical film. Monumental! Regards, Steffen
Hey, that's really well done. Sounds great!!
Good song this, very touching. Your vocal is great, also the backing vocals as usual.
Just listen to that backing - cool! Ha, I love this!
Poor little soul! That is a really fun track. I like the secondary story too.

"I want you to be happy I long for you to be free..." That scares me. It sounds like, "Goodbye." Love the clean guitar sound.
Love how you g from the simple to the huge...great guitars. And the lyric, so intense.
I kept expecting a vocalist...
You really capture the sadness...
Yousra Fouani Beautiful.
"Sweet." Deborah Andruscavage
"Insightful and beautiful." Rosemarie Kempton
I like this. I need to learn those chord changes.
