SWEET RAIN 121611 - TEXAS RAIN
I wrote this song after planting and fertalizing a crop of sudan grass just to have the sun shine down with no relief on it for 100 days and no rain. We, Texas Water, were heading home one night AFTER A GIG at Gringo’s in Grapevine when the drops of rain started splattering on the windshield. I said, “Sweet Rain,” and that was all I needed to get started on this beloved song. Barbara Anne sings the lead vocal. Ra Byn was 12 when he did those guitar, drum and bass tracks.
(We last Barbara 2 years ago.)
SWEET RAIN Key G
G Bass F# Em
It’s been a long dry spell
C Bass B Am
I haven’t done that well
Em D C
And when you reach a certain level
D
You just get by
I could draw you a map of hell.
Oh the stories I could tell
I watched a daughter of the devil
sit down and cry
C G
For rain, rain, rain, SWEET RAIN
Rain, rain, rain, SWEET RAIN
D
Rain to wash the salt away
C
Rain to melt a cloudy day
G
SWEET RAIN
The sun can ruin the land.
Turn your gardens into sand
Lap all the water from the river
until it runs dry
Oh, the ocean’s seen it all
It’s lived to see the forests crawl
Follow the clouds across the mountains
Now tell me why?
CHORUS

Just discovered this absolutely beautiful song. Still appropriate today here too. Sweet rain!
Barabara's voice was perfect for your song, " Sweet Rain". Her voice reminds me of a cross between Linda Rondstat and an old friendgiel of mine.... Lazarus
Tim Tandy Wonderful song on so many levels - the lyrics, melody, harmonies, instrumentals. Mighty fine.............and timely!
