DEAR PEGGY 082814 A - SHARDS
James Michael Taylor
DEAR PEGGY
Dear Peggy,I thot you’d like to know
That blue tile in our bathroom you said would have to go
I replaced with the slate that we bought at Home Depot
mmmmm mmmmm
Dear Peggy, The heat has killed the lawn
And water is so expensive I can’t afford to turn it on
We’ll find out when it rains what dies and what remains
mmmmm mmmmm
Peggy how I like to say your name
I bring you up and people say
“Don’t get him started..”
And Peggy, Mom and Dad are gone.
I’d hoped you’d be here for me to help me carry on
There was a trial, we lost the house, I got a flag
mmmmm mmmmm
Dear Peggy, I noticed you’ve been back
The silver in the closet we kept in the burlap sack
It’s gone and only you knew.
mmmmm mmmmm
And Peggy how I often praise your name
I build you up and people say
“Don’t get him started..”
And Peggy, I fixed the fence on Bonnie Brea
The code guy wrote me up and he gave me fifteen days
But it seems so senseless fixing things since you went away
mmmmm mmmmm

damn, old son... sometimes hearing you sing is like bumping a half healed wound and ripping the scab off... and it hurts, it hurts bad. You know, it's like I knew her... I never met Peg, but sometimes when you sing/cry your words, I want to cry... because... somewhere inside I feel like... I miss her... I really do, I feel like I miss her... and it hurts... it hurts bad. Peace Old friend, Peace JQM
I'm playing catch-up and, aww, this is wonderful. So sad but not mawkish or depressing (I have something a bit like it that I gave up trying to record a while back - this gives me hope, I might try mine again).
Wow so lonely," Only you knew" great vocal right there. The guitar break pure George Harrison. Well hell I like it old stranger
A very different sort of song – interesting, sad lyrics, cool use of echo, nice, brief lead break. Painful but somehow sweet too. Good job of songwriting, but I hope you can get over Peggy – not meaning to get you started….
