the woman with the flawless
home made monacle
denies the existence
of the smooth metal manacles
binding her wrists
and anchoring her ankles
to one of the seven
identical tentacles
of an enormous
barnacle encrusted
monstrously strong
nine brained but nonetheless
stupid dull grey
octopus sprinkling
invisible ink
onto her her monocle

i told her that her vision
was obscured by inky stains
and said that her decision
prevented further gains
i exercised my brain
in a vain attempt to prove
that you don’t feel the chains
until you try to move

she says that she sees
all she wants and she has
all she needs and she loves
all she knows and she is
perfectly comfortable
sitting right here
in her fixed position
where she happens to be
she insists that she mustn’t be
hassled into making
unnecessary movements
that serve no purpose
and misunderstand
the essence of human
meaning which is found
in sitting still

consisting of the platitudes
of complacent ideology
