Collaboration with jip1965

I was emailed a piece of music entitled ‘Glomp’ (I kid you not) with a note saying “Chorus words something like… river flowing…the sun is shining lol”

I sat and listened to the music a few times, not knowing where the heck the intro ended and the first verse began and eventually decided to just pick up the mic, press record, and see what happened.

“Sun is shining, river is flowing” came pretty easily, but I could not think of any lyrics for the verses (as usual). I grabbed a book from the bookshelf - ‘Ancient Wisdom’ - hoping to get some inspiration, looked up ‘water magic’ and found an interesting little story about a water maiden. Still, I couldn’t think of how to adapt the story to lyrics.

Rather than get frustrated, I left the track overnight.

The next morning, I decided to just make up the first melody that came into my head and duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh it. I then added harmonies, read the little story at the end, added a cackle and sent it back to jip, suggesting he write lyrics to go with the duh duh melody.

A few more emails backwards and forwards and … D’oh!

jip1965 has put the lyrics on his upload, so I will just add the little story at the end…

“She is a lovely water maiden who appears by lonely pools. She persuades handsome young men to bathe with her. As soon as they have taken off their clothing and dived in, she turns into a hideous cackling hag with the tail of a fish. Locked in her weed-choked embrace, they are dragged to the depths of the pond, to be seen no more.”

“Hahahahahahahahahhaaaaaaaaa… D’oh!”
