37 SAILS

A Sea Shanty with a bit of Psychedelic seasoning. Guest artist Starry Nightmoth performs the “harmonica” on a Yamaha KB as the song fades out.

  37 SAILS

Thirty-seven sails be a full rigged ship
Open up ye hatch and pour ye spirit down
Thirty silver bits hanging from me hip
Open up your purse and buy another round

Barely room enough for to swing your cat
Open up ye hatch and pour ye spirit down
Hardly rum enough for to make a spat
Open up your purse and buy another round

Got an even keel and sailing for ye king
Run into ye helm and blow ye skipper down
Got a mug to fill and have a knout to sing
Open up your hatch and sing another round

Whistle up a storm, we be on our way
Open up ye hatch and pour ye spirit down
Just another port and we’ve earned our pay
Open up your purse and buy another round

He’s an armchair captain
And a pollywog he be
Aye, says I,
A pollywog there be

Lower boom and anchor
And he’ll be put to sea
Aye, says I,
And there be put to sea

Really cool song! The theme and melody are really memorable. The riff with the fife/synth is really cool. I like the other synth sounds too. Like seagulls circling a ship at points! Also the strumming is really rich and full! Great way to start the day!

I really like this one. I was on Ocracoke Island a few months back and heard a song that I like to do called "Blackberry Blossom" done in this style. I've been loving it every since. lol Very good!

This is really nice! I'm not familiar with your music, Gene, so do you write lyrics and music? Are you a one-man-band? This is the first song I've heard, it sounds a lot like Gentle Giant. Beautiful! Thank you

Unconnected, re: noise reduction on I Lose Control v.2- if you want to, go ahead! I'd like to see what you're able to do. You can email it back to me at songsforthebroken@yahoo.com, and I will put it up and credit you. If you get any ideas while doing that and want to overdub something, feel free to do that as well! Thanks again for listening!

Since you showed interest in my songs, I thought I'd check yours out too. But by god, this is impressive! Reminds me of 'Treasure Island' - one of my most favourite books of all time. Thank you for creating this. I love, love, love this.
