I Know You and You're Not One of Them
Keith Landry
As outraged as I’ve been over the past week, when I sat down to write about it, all I could think was, “How can I get through to someone?” This is the result.
I Know You and You’re Not One of Them
You say you’re defending the red from the blue
But I know you’re pretending like they want you to do
You’ve learned to protect them by taking their lead
Every time you reflect them, you’re serving their needs
You’ve delivered their message
One of angry old men
But I know you, and you’re not one of them
We’ve always been neighbors, and we’ve had our disputes
We read different papers, but we both know the truth
What went down in Virginia will soon happen again
I know you’ll come around, I’m just wondering when
I know you don’t stand for
Rebel flag-waving men
‘Cuz I know you and you’re not one of them
Now the men who deny they’ve been fueling the hate
Have been dangling lies, hoping you’ll take the bait
They claim to be leaders
But they’re nobody’s friends
And I know you, and you’re not one of them
Yes I know you, and you’re not one of them
Yes I know you, and you’re not one of them.
Great song and sentiment. We're all grieveing the demise of the American democracy.
