Tunnel Vision
Mike Denison (Lumberfork)
Once upon a time there was a boy with tunnel vision hidden far beyond the castle walls of a lifelong prison. Captive to a secret that kept him there under lock and key. Imagine was his sanity.
Thirteen days before thirteen he broke a sacred vow. He couldn’t keep it in – he’d kept that secret for too long now. She turned her hips to walk away and as she did he heard her say, “don’t you lie to me.”
You were beautiful back then. I can never have you back again.
Those bright green eyes turned to black and he fell into a sleep. For thirteen years his silent pain kept him hidden, hidden deep. Castle walls can sometimes move wherever broken people go, and nobody ever knows.
But finally our little boy put his fingers to his walls. He pulled himself above the stones and escaped the castle halls. Looking down into the world he saw his white knight’s shining eyes. But his words were lies, those words were lies.
You were beautiful back then. I can never have you back again.
Once upon a time there was a man with castle walls. He took a step outside to view them there from beyond the halls. What he saw he could not bear, and now he’s back inside his prison.
He’s got tunnel vision.
