Nobody Loves You (Demo)
I wasn’t going to post this - it’s the original demo that the finished version is based on. This is the same lead vocal and resonator part that’s on the full version - no EQ or anything, just the naked tracks. There’s two bars of silence before verse 2, around 2.06, left there because I was expecting other instruments to provide a better sustaining chord. Sorry about that…
The reason I’m posting it now is because I’ve just discovered that we’ve lost someone who I think would have particularly liked this version. Ricky Koehl, known to us as Gene Eric Mann, Justin Otter Guy, Merry Bear, and Night Moth.
I mixed this version at the same time as the full version the other day. I actually had Gene Eric Mann in mind as a listener when I was doing it, but I decided not to post it after all. What I didn’t know at the time was that he was already gone.
RIP Rickey, we loved you. I hope we made it obvious enough.
I stopped by for another listen this morning. I've seen a few tributes to Gene. It's nice to see that. It's been a little quiet around here since he's been gone.
Wonderful song, impeccable vocal. most impressive Andrew.
Good voice, nice lyrics
I like the sound of your voice. You can be gentle or hectic. Both are good. Wish you all the best my friend. I have written your name in my book and will listen to more Helen. X
This is "Bonus Hockey" Andrew!!! I love the anticipation a slide guitar creates. Reminds me of the solo acoustic live version of "Your Bright Baby Blues" by Jackson Browne.
I think Rick left some comments on songs of mine, but we never really talked to each other. What a pity to know that we never will.
