leaving the island

Costello fingered his bow
looking out his villa window
grey morning sky
giving way…clouds
scattered by the sun
to fishing boats painted on
far off horizons
a melody he offers
in toast of their run
of their run

his boats they lay silent
expectantly rocking the shore
he touches their wood lovingly with his hands
fine monuments safely moored
he sits in them
dreams in them
imagining he feels the spray
then walking the earth as he longs
“i’ll sail them some day” (x4)

leaving the island
old journey begun
can’t tell how to get there
save, by the One
smooth rocky mysterious shores
landed in Love
the only Language known
spoken there of (x4)

Costello fingered his bow
looking out his villa window

I'm with Andy. Your songs sound very natural. Very good work.

Just one acoustic guitar and a singer, and yet so powerful. That's some great songwriting!
