Some time ago whilst YouTubing, I stumbled across several videos of old seafaring songs or sea “shanties”. Unbelievably, that triggered some very ancient RAM of elementary school music classes wherein we were taught several of these songs. And I remembered snatches of this one.

So I went looking for lyrics and videos of performances. I got to wondering if it might not be arranged for clawhammer style banjo.

Yeah, this one just carries you along, of course. I don't know whoever came up with this, but it has that sense of bouncing over the spray, long haul. And it's good to see some refs to Americana, in the middle of it. One of my faves.
