This is our 8th song, and one thing you may notice about it is that (on alonetone and iTunes) it is at a lower bit rate than most of the others. This is because Alonetone seems to have a 60MB song size limit. However, if you want it at original, full quality, we will be having a CD box set of all the “keyed” recordings coming out soon, as all but one of them have been recorded. Anyways, this song got its name from a spam email I got called “This Is Why You’re Fat”. This song was recorded a few hours before Adam, Scott, Phoebe, and I went to see The Books, and therefore has a bit of a Books-ian feel to it. The recorded voices in the song are from an old Viscount reel to reel deck my girlfriend bought for me at Goodwill, which is cool because it does not play at constant speed. From what I can tell, the recordings are of some family meeting for a party/dinner type event in 1959 or 1969 (I would guess 69, but I can’t find any info on the tape deck). Other than that, we had for the most part fairly straight forward instruments: guitars, keyboard, and flute… Adam does some loops, and I used two apps on my iPod (TapStereo and i808… both are very good!). One last thing about this song: Scott was not in the room when we began recording, but walked in part way through, and fell down in front of a mic and started singing, and for some reason came up with what I think are his best lyrics yet.
