i saw the curtains changing color
i watched the sun room come alive
i have been sitting in this rocker
wondering when you might arrive
i am hoping for redemption
cant stand the way i feel
i know it is only passing through me
rivers flood my fertile fields
i am rolling down the windows
i am turning off the lights
i am pushing down on the pedal
i made it through the night
i wonder if you are sleeping
i wonder what you dream about
i know i am headed for the river
to do things i only read about
i am on the floor picking up pennies
you are in a car on your way home
i am watching geese fly towards the water
hoping i am not alone
the stars are so much brighter as if i was much closer to them
and i am feeling a little bit lighter
flying higher
i am going back down to memphis
going to do it right this time
going to swim in the muddy water
and i know i will be just fine
i never thought i would be a winner
never planned to do this stuff
sometimes my heart is just not enough
i remember when i was special
and you were just a kid
i and i knew someday you would find me
and all those things i hid
see the sun in the distance
rising up through the trees at 6 am
my first cup of coffee is cold from yesterday
cigarette glows like a gem
i saw the curtains changing color
i watched the sun room come alive
i have been sitting in this rocker
wondering when you might arrive
i am rolling down the windows
i am turning off the lights
i am pushing down on the pedal
i made it through the night
Extraordinary delivery, wow!
this one gets me dancing... it's groovy! ~danielle
Thanks for the explanation. It is a beautiful song, and also very sad. And yet, there is something in it that sounds like the need to keep going, regrets and all. Nice work! (If you want to hear a song with a similar theme, check out Droodle's song, "Jesus Bun")
So this is about a friend? I thought it was to a child, from a parent who was far away. It's very touching.
Great tune! I like the way you write. Thanks for your post, I do not know phil marshall, maybe you could hip me to him. If you get to Newport, look up Bob Madden, great drummer! He would dig you songs too!
Nice album Tim,hey where do I get one of those rockers with the roll down windows? Some interesting percussion sounds in this one.One of my favorites of the bunch. Doc
thanks yes, this were recorded for the rpm challenge. i only drew on my note books for two songs and just for inspiration. i had already meet the 35 minutes of music requerment for the project but felt the subject of my friends death last february (shadow of the son) needed to be adressed. what a great experience (rpm) tim
So far, so good. This is nice work, Tim. You did all the writing and recording in Feb? Amazing.
