we all clap our hands to the beat as the beat goes by
jazz & poetry in the fifties almost died
Rock n roll became the goal as people slicked back there hair
Rock, Rock and roll , the parent were in despair
Elvis was misunderstood he was a nice country boy
but everybody was taught he was the Devil incarnate trying to destroy all those little girls & boys
it went mad and the F.B.I took a look
They wanted to screw that boy to the floor and make Rock n Roll all shook up
the Rock n roll finally lost its Roll
It became rock and it stood out all alone
then the Acid hit then everybody and everything got a little crazy
they all tuned in and dropped out and some people got lazy
the Funk and the movement to a bite and everything got hazy
Morrison dying in a bath, Jimi choking on his vomit, Janis going with an overdose
it all got wrong
The Drugs hit hard in the peoples minds and souls
and public consciousness was born and the youth took a hold
The youth thought they could win the fight with the blue coated law
and finally stop a totally pointless vietnam war
The Freaks and pigs Battled it out till 75

By the eighties the powder became the rule and Money ruled all
and all that togetherness didn’t seem right in fact it didn’t look sane at all
everybody looked after their own thing and it all went wrong again
Dance became the thing and people just let loose
they all went insular inside took E thought they’d found the truth
Government’s took control, of the world
Finances ruled and the rules got blurred
now were in the 2000ands and nothings really changed apart, apart from elected dictators playing their strange games
no longer do the record companies own the music now
everybody in the world is dancing to their own tunes
nobodies in control no more
were all doing our own thing
we’ve got a, we’ve got a hold
so lets keep it going
If you can play an instrument you can be a star in your own mind
you have the freedom to do your own thing
make your own time
now independent music is the music that sings
so go on get out there and do your own thing
