Shell Of A Ship
Will Stelter
A little work in progress here : written with a friend as a female/male duet.
Ill cut off my hair
And trim down my nails
Set out to sea
Then let down my sails
Mistake me for a man
You wouldn’t be the first
You can’t have my best
Without getting my worst
This shell of a ship
Could be drowned with a drink
And hauled to the depths
To watch ourselves sink
Shave off of my beard
Clean off my vest
Set out for an ocean
That’s clearly unimpressed
Dawn a captains cap
Blend in with the rest
I’m clearly a first mate
If that, at best
This shell of a ship
Could be drowned with a drink
And hauled to the depths
To watch ourselves sink
We’ve done our best to hold onto the brink
But still we’ve got an anchor round our necks
So drink, for your friends
So drink, til we meet the bitter end
So drink, til we forget where we’ve been
Cause we’ve all been alone on a ship (on a deck)
The captains log, oh is dead
And the crew, all up in their heads
The tempest, how she calls us to bed
Cause we won’t make it through such a night
This shell of a ship
Could be drowned with a drink
And haled to the depths
To watch ourselves sink
We’ve done our best to hold onto the brink
But still we’ve got an anchor round our necks
like this song
Very refreshing.
