Lyrics for the bridge
Logically there's room for all questions
Though the answers aren't all known,
Objectivities the myth of plenty,
Who doubt His truth within their soul.

Now with more awesomeness! Thank you to This Wretched Vessel Lead vocalist for adding in some Gang vocals to beef up the chorus. Also borrowing their percussionist for some tambourine to give the song some extra pop!
You know I can’t think…

This is like a lost Railway Children song from a session where they were letting one of the other guys sing for once. Nice work, and it features your usual upbeat lyrical content! :)
Cover of one of my favourite RPMers. Tried to just make it different and have fun with it. This was definitely one of the stand out tunes this year. Didn't even want to touch it as a cover but I could not help myself. Hope Wilsun likes it…

“Summer Rain” was written, recorded, and produced on July 23, for the July 2024 REM Challenge (via RPM Challenge).
Written in five minutes. Recorded in 10 minutes (used take #3). Added additional instrumentation and mixed in about 45 minutes…
“Nothingness” was written, recorded, and produced on May 31, for the May 2024 REM Challenge (via RPM Challenge).
It was done out of desperation to have something submitted for this month's REM Challenge. It is terrible!
I might be warming up, turn me over
But the spinning wheels are stuck, on the shoulder
I lost the day
In a trade I lost my soul to the devil
In a fair enough bargain, it's on the level
For the pay
While I stare at brakelight eyes…
I've got a frakentele... and it is my current goto guitar... an't nothin wrong with a giter made from parts of other failed projects...
great tune, just great.
RPM. Month of concessions. I had lots of ideas, and they all seemed to fall apart. Time was not in abundance. Glad this was a leap year, for me to squeeze this out in a few hours after work.
Thrown around town
Wind in your face
Picking up discards, push handcarts
In this town
Jump overboard
You're pushed overboard
There clearly is a difference: you're flotsam lost or jetsam cold
Jump overboard
You're pushed overboard…
“My Butterfly” was recorded and mixed very quickly from 5/7/23 to 5/11/23, for May’s 30 Day Songs challenge (30daysongs.com).
“My Butterfly” was also submitted to May’s REM Challenge (via RPM Challenge).
“My Butterfly” written by W. Ng.
The juxtopation of these two songs is perfect, the ugliness of the first intro of harsher nature into a neatly wrapped tune of beautiful melody.
Coming into My Butterfly that feels like something Smith should have done in the first place. The completion of the thought from old to new is a wonderful idea.
Great job Wilsun! --- *SORRY! *DR* Wilsun!
“The Caterpillar” was recorded and mixed very quickly from 5/7/23 to 5/11/23, for May’s 30 Day Songs challenge (30daysongs.com).
"The Caterpillar" written by R. Smith/L. Tolhurst, originally by The Cure.
Tim played and sang everything

Wow, this is really cool! I love the faster tempo, makes the song feel way more alive! The solo and drum programing is way better then my original. Thank you Brent!
Yacht rock.
Every time I see your smile
I feel like I’ve come home
And every time you stay a while
Is the best day that I’ve known
You’re the one that lights my way
Brings brightness to my day
And I just have to say
Don’t want it…
Everyone loves a tribute to The Cure
I’m sitting here in the dark , Thinking how we fell apart
I can’t shake the feeling of your touch
Remembering the way you smiled, And how you said you’d stay a while
But now you’re gone and I’m here all…
Your backing vocals on this album remind me of something that I cannot quite put my finger on. I like them a lot. I think you have actually done more with less this year in the BGV department. That solo was borderline Just like Heaven... but then again, you said you were doing the Cure and the Cure you did.
I don't even know you anymore.
You open your mouth, the words slip out
I’m shocked by what I hear
The differences couldn’t be more clear
Same scene, different views
With our eyes and on the news
And I’m not sure what to do
I don’t…
Over the course of the album, you seem to have some pent up aggression toward some one... Ooh chimes! sorry ADD... The addition of the left guitar in the second chorus is killer! All of the layers in the end are wonderful!
Sometimes you listen to a Peter Murphy song and then ask ChatGPT to help you write a song. Sometimes you end up with this. You wouldn't believe the lyrics I left out.
Goths on the beach, all dressed in black,
Heading for the waves, and…
Super interesting concept going into this one. I basically have no other words.
Its good? Its weird? Its perfectly constructed?
I think the only thing it is missing is a 12 string and maybe it is already on in there...You really let loose in those last choruses and it is awesome... more of that please.
I asked to robots to help me write a song in the style of Tom Waits.
Riding on a train to the edge of town
Where the night has just begun
People on the street with nowhere to go
Living hard and having fun
Everywhere I go there’s a song…
Love the electric piano you got going on. One of my favourite tones is a Mark IV through a fender amp with a bit of grit mixed with an organ. Those lead guitar tones are perfect for this feel. Very laid back. If anything on the second solo there are a bit too many notes. Just take some out and it will be perfect... just none of the ones after 2:57; those ones are spot the F* on.
I tried to write a song that sounded sort of like Peter Gabriel. I'm not sure how close I got, but Megan and Jarrett absolutely killed it on this tune.
I can see you in my mind
Like a dream I can’t forget
I’m reaching out to touch you
But…
There is a stringedesqued instrument doing a boldly subtle bit that sounds like a departure from L17 that I like.
Background layered vocal on that third chorus with horns was a nice touch for an outro!
Were you guys aware that I'm a Beatles fan? Because, well.... I am.
I don't want you to come too close
I don’t need you to break the rules
Don't try to play my game
It’s not what you should do
I don’t think we can be friends
I don…
What ever you did with those back ground vocals are simply fantastic! I love the way the line "You won’t find a way back to my heart, I know it’s hard to see" flows, that was easily my favourite part!
Drums sound quiet but this song feels like it has a ton of potential to be something epic! Really loved all of the layers especially in the vocals! Great tones from the guitars!

Well done. Cool rocking song. BTW, thanks for listening to my songs.
Agree with (WilSun, I assume?) sounds real good now! Any RPM '23? Thanks btw!
Are you English?
Love this. The pulsating...
Is that all you? Great vocal...
Great production! Such an emotional song! Great vocal mix. I'd like to hear a bit more of the lead vocal.
Sounds great already, demo or not. Amazing vocals!
This is TIGHT. Dang.
Digging this track.
Whoa. The revision with the new backing vocals is really great!
Oh wow...so, so good. The song just came pouring out of my speakers and filled up the room.
Great acoustic sound and atmosphere, awesome vocals!

Love this!
Holy. Crap. This sounds epic!
This sounds like an 80s metal power ballad, and I mean that in all the best possible ways.
Love this!
This sounds amazing! I'm so honored for the cover, thank you!
LOVE IT
Very nicely done! Love the those bvox too!

Short and sweet! ...and happy? I like proto punk Wilsun! Happy Birthday! - 8/1/2024
Dark and dramatic! Love this Wilsun! Celebrate the little things, desperation or not, this track is fantastic!
Jarrett, this song just gets better every time I listen to it. I have it on my reoccurring spotify playlist and I simply love it!

Interesting. Clever and interesting!
Hol.Lee.Crap. This is absolutely fantastic! I feel like Brian Wilson after hearing Elenore Rigby..
That was astonishing!

There is a bold move in purposely have dissonance be the intro of a song. You are nailing the Robert Smith.
So very tranquil and lovely. Love what you did with this Mark!
This sounds absolutely phenomenal!

Nice and gentle way to end the album. Well done as usually good sir.
