A funky tune about my step-dad. This is an out-take from my RPM09 effort. I used the rock version for the cd, though in retrospect I think this version is better! Oh, well...

wanted to thank you for telling me aboout Fred Eaglesmith. i sure do relate. ocationally folks will say i remind them of captian hook. i could hear that as well with fred. when i get some money i will down load some of his stuff.
you have a very diverse pallette.

well i have a special spot in my heart for arizona. i also have headphones that fade in and out at times so your mix is messing with my head. i realize it is you and not me. i see the heat has effected you as well. the horns work well. the choral thing at the end is sweet
thanks
tim
three striped gum
falls out of an old dresser drawer
fills my head with memories from before
causes me to close the door
i feel rotten to the core
three striped gum
falls out of my pocket in the rain
what would have happened if i played…
i am thinking about words tonight
they can be hard as nails
they-can be as shapeless as water
they can break your heart
they can hang like a chain
hold you up for years
cause you to think twice
take away your fears
you are falling in love…
This was the first time I'd fired up my telecaster and amp for a recording and it felt like sitting in Sun Studios or something. Amazing sound after playing just acoustic instruments for a year. It's the first take and I loved it!
This is now…
The more times I listen to this whole cd the better it gets! Quite possibly my favourite new album of the past couple of years. Particularly like Black Cat, Old Roy's daughter and the slide playing on Jimmy. Great stuff - more please!

Great song-writing!
wow this is fun!
Feels good...good energy...I'm a big fan of the tambourine.
A great relaxed feel and richly melodic...a real memorable track!
Love it! Bluegrass with a British accent! Oh that's right, Americans are the ones with the accent.
Amen!
I felt the same way about my 86 Buick!! (sniff)
hey rob, love this tune. it hits me in just the perfect way.
Great rhythm, similar sentiments to it aint too late. Excellent. Thank you.
Let's hear it for fred. Another entertaining song.
Like the harmonica, and the harmonies. Good one.
Good all round song. Nice sound.
I must have heard this somewhere else, Rob. Faved.
Great harmonies. I laughed a lot at this.
Love these lyrics, Rob. Fred sounds like a cool codger.
Love the keys in this one!

Another great tune from tim. Good stuff mate
Nice n mellow. Reminds me a bit of Fred Eaglesmith's more laid back stuff (check out his cd Milly's Cafe - I think you'll like it)
Ahhh, funky as f*ck! Love it.

Nice tune Alex. Reminds me a bit of mid period John Cale - which is no bad thing in my world!
Funny and funky, I love it! Love the groove and the Hammond in particular
