Another French folk song that I thought I’d have a go at recording today. It’s a lovely little tune about gathering around the table with friends. I learned this one from one of Marcel Bénéteau’s CDs.
Lyrics:
Y a encore dessur la table une…
Another excellent French folk song! For those who don't speak French, here is what Google translator yields:
There's still a jug of white wine on the table
There's still a jug of white wine on the table
Let's drink there, oh let's drink there,
I have the heart all at ease
At my friends table
I have a happy heart
I have a happy heart
There's still a tobacco pipe in my room
There's still a tobacco pipe in my room
Let's smoke there, oh let's smoke there,
I have the heart all at ease
At my friends table
I have a happy heart
I have a happy heart
NEW DAY Key Am
In the morning when she gets me up
Pours some wake up in my coffee cup
She opens the window, lets the new day in
She says, “Open your heart and embrace it.
Take that frown and erase it.
I whistle a happy song…”
So…

Am walk down...
When I was a child we'd drive 200 miles
to Grandma's in the Spring
I'd hop out of the car, run to the back yard.
Grandma had a swing
But the times have changed...
When I became a dad I took all the rope I had…

Oh, I LOVE this! The fact that your camera placement, while swaying and playing, made me feel like I was actually swinging to the song. GENIUS!
The track name was sort of stream of consciousness. I was dabbling with words that fit the feeling/theme of the music, and that sequence had a nice flow to it.
Another one from the archives! Collab with glu from 2009 - I took his original guitar track and added vocals, then he remixed and made about four more versions, but this is my fave.
OWIE! in G
When I get an owie
I want to tell somebody
When I get an owie
I feel so alone
When I get an owie
I want to show somebody
When I get an owie
I run strait to mom
When I get an owie
It's better if it's bloody...

What a poignant song, Jim! It captures so well the joy many of us had in simple pleasures like swinging--and how our grandchildren are lured at very early ages to the artificial razz-ma-tazz of cell phone games. I remember what joy my youngest son had, swinging on the tire swing we hung up in one of our backyard trees so many years ago. He'd spend hours, climbing onto the nearby picnic table (seated on the tire), jumping off, and letting the tire sway and spin. I feel sad that my grandson didn't get that kind of kinesthetic experience and all the pleasure it could bring.

This was a collab between my old friend Joe and I from a couple years ago. I recorded the basic track and sent it to him so he could play the main melody/ guitar solo over it. I took the ending of the guitar solo section and reversed it to give…
Voice into EHX Voice Box on Unison/Whistle setting, into EHX Stereo Memory Man. Submitted to Sound-In "Within and Without the Loop (of Time)" for 8-15/12/2022.
Thanks, Jeff! Yeah EHX are fond of throwing unexpected little quirks into their devices it seems. Not sure exactly how this one works, but it can really do some great unexpected things.
