3rd one for RPM2011. This is an 'oh you'll never get to heaven' type affair inspired by a beer my mate introduced me too. The song is basically about drinking yourself to death and having one up on the healthy brigade having made a rather spectacular…

Alone for 3 days in the red desert was an amazing experience. I had and still have never again sat down and watched an entire day pass by and experience the profound deafening sound of solitude and silence.

RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…

I like the high strummed parts interjected periodically with the fuzz parts. Moody number, and I don't mean a pun here. Good stuff.

You go and I stay. Almost like before, I think. Don't you notice now? Always I lag behind you. Stutter-step to notice me. Shyness looks at tennis shoes, Studies things you'll never see. Will you ever see me?

This song is sort of about making a clean break, killing off the lead character in your story and burying him along with all his sins before the inevitable happens, and the bad guy gets his. Initially came from a jam with my mate Ben Price who…

I really like the turn you took this year Alex. This song has some very cool twists and turns. Really a great listen.

One of two pretty little interludes for the album, both of which are based around a guitar part Gary did for me. I've put different synth chords behind each of them to cover the two sides of the lady that inspired the full song, Jekyll & Hyde…

This is really inventive and cool song. I had to come back and listen twice, just to get a fix on all of the things going on.

I love the summer-ish country feel to this song. The instrumentation really gives a kick to this number. The acoustic instruments sound really pristine. Cool number.

Kick-arse number, love the guitar. The vocals are primo, great high notes. This would be a great song to hear live in a club.

The first recorded version of this song, this little folk song was originally written fifteen or so years ago with just the four chord rhythm guitar and single vocal. The song became what it is today when I needed to write additional verses for…

I really liked the guitar interlude. You and Ashley sound great together. You sound a little John Denver-ry in this one.

Another old song that got a little country twang when it became obvious that the horn section wouldn't be showing up on my doorstep any time soon. "You fools don't know what's going on inside her head"

The lyrics and the riff really work well on this one. Overall the lenghth is good but I would pare it down and build a chorus out of part of it. She tells me every day, that kind of love dont fade away, could be earlier, between verses to build that memory that makes us sing along.

The song that really kicked off this second album of 2009. "In time all the stars will fade away Our kind won't get to see it anyway No shine, just endless black between the gray I won't be going out in that way"

I was right. Your songs sound great when they have structure. I don't undersatnd why we need the repetition but for some reason it makes the song friendlier, more accessable. Very nice guitar work.

Some places (like Salisbury Beach in Massachusetts) are just sacred ground. "This tide rolls out and in my life."

Nice song. That one was easy to listen to. It had pretty good structure. Plus it took me back. I used to go to the Bowery in Salisbury when I was in my 20's. I used to do the batting cages too when I was even younger. My first time drunk was at 16 in at Salisbury Beach. I saw some good bands at the Frolics!

Just a fun song for my mother-in-law, who loves butterflies (I hope!). After years and years of freedom, she is once again "mommy" to 4 more people and 4 more cats (she already has 6!) and always tries to make us feel welcomed and comfortable…
