11 January 2010 Experimenting with the bass sound in this track is what made bass the focus of my RPM album, where previously I hadn't given much thought to bass tone.

A typical folk song. Written and recorded in about an hour for the 24 hour album (attempted on March 13th). Excuse roughness and vocal glitches, it was 2am and this was my first full take. Thanks to montgomeru for his chord suggestions…

Are we learning something new every day? It used to feel like I forgot something important every day. Did I know that you loved me? Was it love that you owed me?

Coupled with an alternate version, this would make a great intro/outro to a concept album. There's an entire world happening in that minute and a half, and I didn't want to leave yet.

This is a meditative space ambient track inspired by the Russian space station Mir and its dreamlike zero gravity atmosphere. The Russian word 'mir' means both 'world' and 'peace'.

Steppe tells an atmospheric story of the boundless plains of the steppes, reflecting Lena’s personal memories from the time she lived in the Russian part of Kazakh Steppe as a young music teacher. From album 'Songs of Vastness' (mt027).

I checked this out simply because of the name. I released a song called steppes with my other band This Caustic Autumn, based on dwelling in the boundless widths of isolation, I guess. haha. It's not nearly as beautiful as this is though. This is really really nice stuff.

Here's a partially-orchestrated preview of a song we're currently writing. Another big toe-tapper, this one, a lovely 6/4 piece, an ode to half-diminished sevenths, and minor ninths, wherever they may fall. The title comes from a quote from…
