(Remastered 22/10/2021)
I found this one while I was digging through the shoe-box for the 1994 songs. Apparently I wrote it on 10th November 1995.
Foolishly, I thought it would only take a week or so to record... I was originally expecting…
great work pure data is kinda difficult for me to make massive constructions due to the complexity of the details that have to be correct when working with it but pure data is a great program -- :)
Wow!! Ray has done a cracking job on this....he has made a silk purse from my pigs ear attempt at the piano, the instrumentation is perfect for the song and the production is also..... i'm sure you'll agree .....I love it Thanks Ray

There is an outfit that hires Latinos to push these little wheeled boxes (some are actually tricycles they ride) cooled with dry ice and filled with all flavors of popsicles that they sell for 50 cents. At some point it became…
A sad blues with the HB 12string and a broken hearted Reg Maybellene has left him and he's hurting ....Hurting bad... Fall of the wagon bad !..... Thanks for listening

I’ve seen you crash back down into the ash
Like an inverted Phoenix
So delectable yet totally ineffectual
Those intellectual verbal tricks
I’ve tried to save ya from your bad behaviour
And keep you safe within the mix
I’ve been here to…
A bit of a 'kitchen sink' one... It's another one I play beginner's guitar on tentatively (the lead break & rhythm)
The are no vocals (I'm amassing a large amount of songs needing vocals!) but it does feature some more epic 80s synths…
This is only the second song I've ever written on the guitar - I'm playing acoustic and rhythm... and you can tell I'm a beginner 😆 Happily the rest of the instrumentation is a little more polished.
No sugar coating this... It's a very melancholy…
This was all written on the bass - I wanted to get an earthy 70s Rickenbacker bass vibe on this so naturally there's liberal splashes of Moog and Hammond Organ to accompany it.
It's kind of 'prog-lite' and again needs vocals. It's a working…
Well... this took a left turn at Odd Street. The main melody started off as riff written and played on bass guitar and the early version had guitars, and real drums etc.... Then I got introduced to a suite of 80s synth plugins and it all went…
Only 1 week ago I was luxuriating at a beautiful hotel in Dubai, floating blissfully in a lagoon pool... Forward wind one week and I'm here in the cold, wet, windy UK having to quarantine...
Now, at the aforementioned pool, they played a chill…
The second one born from my first week of quarantine. I dusted off my 5 string Sandberg bass guitar and wanted to evoke a Motown-ish vibe on this one and really got into the snare and bass guitar following the same rhythm rather than the usual…

I don't know if I just got lucky tonight or if my new laptop speakers are *amazing* but every track I've heard on 'tone tonight has been fantastic... Another beaut! BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE LONGER. You've got 15 days till Samhain.
So, what do you think... could it use more wah-wah?
This was written for the 2014 RPM Challenge. The chromatic thing at the beginning had been rattling around in my head for years and years but had never found a home.
The lyrics here…
That plinky little sound in the verses is an organ with some distortion on it. I wanted Jon Lord to play the part but he wasn't available. It's playing eighth notes in the verses and a sustained pad in the chorus. If I remix this I might bring it up. I haven't decided yet.
The sound at the end is actually a grunt of frustration. This is the easiest song every written in all of the history of music and it took me 700 takes to get the rhythm guitars right. I was going to cut it out but when the time came I thought it was funny so I left it there.

You are setting the pace. This is a thought provoking situational presentation Well done.
My feet are tapping! This is the stuff.
Nice laid back bluesy number and very well recorded. It's just screaming out for some blues harp and/or slide guitar.

Oh my, beautiful. Completely heartfelt and genuinely touching.
Looking forward to your dreamy vox on this!
Loving the space in the beats, but you were clearly off your face when you wrote this.
Definitely chill (although I get Russe's hot water bottle-nicking wifey ref), and very soothing...needed that. Lush track, kiddo.
Long silk gloves, lots of shoulder action. Def Motown.
I can really hear this with a swing rhythm!
