Inspired by a large stone I saw in the Ortspark in Munich, which somebody had carefully engraved with the name Mabel.
No loops used this time, all virtual instruments played by me. Cymbal, guitar, acoustic guitar, violin.
A thoughtfully constructed and genuinely performed song, Steve. I particularly appreciate that way the violin and acoustic guitar interweave throughout. Nice job!
Thanks Tom. Yes, the track is shorter than I expected. I wanted the guitars speeded up, and in doing so it shortened the whole track considerably. Perhaps I will extend it. Cheers for listening : )
Love the funky bass in this one, Steve! My only "complaint" (if you want to call it that) is that I wish it were a little longer. That said, what you've made here sticks in the listener's mind far longer than its 1 and half minute run time might suggest, so I can see how one could argue the length is perfect.
Synths are meant to represent the fast beating heart of the technological city, with its busy trains and industrious people. The breathing is life, and the cheerful keyboard is supposed to be the fun and excitement of life in a city with a flourishing…
Thanks for listening and commenting on my track In 2. I'm returning the favor and the support. Well produced and interesting techno to my ears. Keep the muse going!
Cyborgs conquer the planet, crushing resistance and enslaving the human race. The cello represents the people who ignore the destruction and carry on as normal, like the orchestra playing on the deck of the Titanic as it went down.

Thanks Tom. I'm not sure if the mix of instruments worked. I was trying to contrast the power of the invasion with the futility of resistance and panic of the human survivors, but perhaps I was being a bit ambitious. It was fun though, and if you listen carefully at the beginning you will hear my dog getting in on the act. She heard me shouting and ran in barking, thinking that there was really someone (or something) here! I had to laugh!
That beer on the table yours or mine?
I only left the room for a short time.
If you've gone and switched them I'm gonna be sad,
Cos that beer was the best one that I ever had.
Don't drink my beer, you hear?
I'm counting to 4 just to make…
Thanks Tom. Boring the listeners is my greatest fear! Yes, I suggest headphones because there is a swirling stereo effect which only works properly with headphones on, as you rightly guessed. This song is about the rise of the Cyborgs, from initial communications to a robotic type march on humanity, a la Terminator style.
Thanks DJ Ursine. I can't take all of the credit for this. I use loops mostly, and the timing takes care of itself on the app I use. An ear for what will work, and some imagination helps, but I guess I'm more of a DJ than a musician.
Thanks DJ Ursine. The virtual guitar was the only freehand part of the track, and I wanted to leave it raw and unedited to create the contrast you noticed. I was tempted to edit it and phrase it better, but it might have ended up "too perfect " . I'm sure you know what I mean : )
Thanks again Tom, for commenting on my music. This is meant to be about someone who is encouraged to be upbeat and happy and enjoy life, while privately they are thoughtful and confused, and that is why the mood of the music changes around so often. It's just an experiment to see whether I can convey mood and emotion without vocals. I'm glad you liked it. Next up will be a sci-fi tune, coming soon : )
I struggled to get this thing completed. I've been sat on it for weeks, finished, debating whether I was really prepared to let it go.
I loved the song when I wrote it, inspired by a wonderful week at the end of September. But the recording…

Aptly titled--I definitely was stomping along to the rhythm of this song. You mix a nice contrast of styles here. Well done, Steve!

Love the guitar and vocals are excellent! Great song Gary : )
Praise indeed from somebody who knows what they are doing with keyboards/synths. I appreciate your comments, and thanks for the vote of confidence!

Thanks Lux Lucis : )
Excellent song. Well written and performed Andrew. Reminiscent of early Bowie for me, but unique and stylish in it's own right.
Thank you Andrew : )
Thanks Andrew. Appreciate your comment. I wish I could sing better though!
Thanks James. I'm flattered
Like the interplay between the instruments. Nice variety, cool tune.
Like the eeriness you create
Wow! Very professional Corrie. Beautiful song and performance : )
Mellow sounds, dreamy and cool.
Nice James! Sweet vocals, very short. Will you expand this into a longer song?
