Near to Me

Bonus points if you can figure out what this song is about before the end of the first verse.

Starting out on Sunday morning, nothing else to do
Getting right through 1 dash 1, moving right on to two

Walk a little to the right, jumping through the air
Doing it so carefully, enemies everywhere

Keep your focus on the goal, I’m waiting here for you
Unless you come and set me free, there’s nothing I can do

You were so near to me
You have my sympathy
You made your run and you almost won
So close that I could see

Gathering the wealth and power, laying all around
Helping you to get across the unforgiving ground

Exploring all the universe until the day is done
Find a secret way between the distance to be run

You learn to fly you learn to swim, doubling in size
Coming ever closer to your most desired prize

You were so near to me
You have my sympathy
You made your run and you almost won
So close that I could see

Getting very near the end, danger running high
Obstacles to overcome begin to multiply

I see you nearly at the end, approaching victory
I dream about the day when I am finally set free

You face your mortal enemy, your final life depends
Just one more and you will fall, your journey at an end

You were so near to me
You have my sympathy
You made your run and you almost won
So close that I could see

Love hearing y'all sing together & the harmonica break! (And I'm probably wrong, but it seems like Mario 3 fits?)

Lol, I keep trying to write this comment while relistening to the track and my comment just keeps getting removed when the next track pops up so here goes one final time :D You can't have that prompt in the beginning and not give a clear answer! It was really fun listening to this for the first time and trying to follow the story, and Olivia's vocals work so harmoniously with your lyrics and melodies. Plus, that Harmonica (?), uff, just takes this to another level of folk awesomeness!

Saved!
