Just One

This year’s six-minute depressive Dad-rock ballad.

Sitting around on a Friday afternoon, Feeling hungry and alone
There aint nothin worth eatin in the fridge, noone to call on the phone

So I’m heading to the diner round the way
Open every time of day
They greet me with a smile and they say
How many do we have today?

Just one, Just one, gimme a table by the side
Just one, just one, my loneliness I can’t hide

In the cover of the darkness of the room, hide the loser that I am
Open the menu try to pick a food, maybe I’ll have that leg of lamb

The waitress, she always greets me with a smile
She won’t ever hear my cries
She asks me if I’d like to wait a little while
If I want an appetizer

Just one, Just one, gimme a salad on the side
Just one, just one, my loneliness I can’t hide

The manager comes and gives me a special greeting
Seen me here a hundred times
Always alone, I never bring a friend
But I tip everyone just fine

Finish my meal, it comes with a dessert, a little pudding or parfait
Don’t really want it but I got no place to go, I’ll stay a little late

Moving along, making room for many more
Tables of two or three or four
People with lives and people that they love
Children that they still adore

Just one, Just one, I got noone by my side
Just one, just one, my loneliness I can’t hide

Well now ya hit me right in the feels -- when you sing "hungry and alone" I'm felling that. And more brown guitar stylings... always a good thing. This one's heavy, hope your gonna lift us back up after this!

Saved!
