Pine Away
glu
This is my 12 hour song (written, recorded, mixed, mastered) … I pined away all day at it while a storm kept me company.
instrumentation:
a man lost his house and sold me his fretless bass for next to nothing. a family friend gave me his indonesian flute before he died. I dropped out of school and went to The Philippines, brought back a violin and did not make it back into school for 5 years. I recorded miners chopping down a tree in the Peruvian Amazon. I was given my first acoustic guitar at 16 and never learned quite how to play it. I borrow a second acoustic that was my grandfather’s because I like nylon strings better. I was given a clay flute from Peru by my mother-in-law. I brought back another clay flute from Chiapas Mexico, where I visited the lovely ruins of Palenque and Yaxchitlan. My wife brought back a rattle from a Mayan Lacondon villiage bordering Guatemala. I have two tablas and a tambourine on loan from a friend- they are from Egypt, but he will not go back because he is perceived to have money by his family (because he lives in the U.S.). He also gave me a wooden flute from Turkey. I’m borrowing a long bamboo flute from my parents and their didgeridoo, which was a gift from a family member who visited Australia. I throw my keys up and down, slightly higher to the fourth beat… they do me no good because I let my car die– i ride the bus now, and I hate cars. I took a cello recording from freesound and sliced it to my heart’s desire and rearranged the notes. I sing “in this state we pine away” – I would say more if I could…
fixed the bass (or corrected SOME of the problems with it) and re-uploaded... it was getting a little too wobbly at times... Thanks for all the comments! You lot keep me inspired to post stuff. <3
wow, that's cool...great instrumentation, very enjoyable to get lost in pure listening.
Great stuff there! The instrumentation works really well and the cello samples add a nice touch
dont know how you create a feel like that.. is literally a complete mystery to me how you manage it. Sounds so smooth. think ill have to take this one on hols. :)
