Daisy (over the hill and far away)
This is a recording of Norm and me playing together a few months ago. I didnt have any percussion instruments so Norm was on a Roland electric trap set and I had a cello. I looped some of the stuff we did that night, and retrofitted the rest into this song. I really like this one cuz Norm is playing the trap set ( which I dont think he had ever played before) Although he claims to simply be a percussionist, he seemed pretty relaxed playing drums :)
The music reminds me of a scene from the streets of San Francisco then Karl Malden’s nose comes into my mind and my mind suddenly goes over the hills and far away ...I like it.
Some excellant songs here, I've downloaded your stuff before, all good!!
Very full sound considering the minimal amount of instruments. I like.
I have a dog named Daisy, lol along with 3 others. haha sounds like me calling my dog. little lhasa apso. and I'm moving out soon so she will be over the hill and far away.
Daisy and I both know that as soon as you get far enough away from the perimeter, the pain inflicted by the shock collar ceases, and is only a bad memory. A small price to pay for the freedom to run over the hills all night with the other freed pups. We don't care if you hollar.
Strap on that bass~
Good dog. Bad Dog. It's all the same. Poor Daisy. Sometimes when the opportunity presents itself, you just have to run far away, through out the night. Great vox on this one and the change of perspective -from the narrator's to Daisy's- is very clever. But the double entendre that this piece drips with is the part I like the very best.
fun story line,,, great musical/story,, drifting, as you say "over the hill and far away" the music itself seems to match the story so perfectly...
There's not a lot happening, just enough to make it extra cool. Dark sunglasses and a smoke cool.
:)
First song listened to this morning, really enjoyed this one. The trap set sounds perfect guys! You always get an amazingly clean recording, also really dug the mellow change up in the middle! Nice!
I hate this song for so many reasons. Brilliant.
