Another oldie but goodie (again, apologies for the few seconds of silence it takes to get to the intro). This song is the first that I really tried to record properly, written around Christmastime four or five years ago with my seventh grade…
After writing this song about our newly adopted dog, I asked Kavin if he like to play some slide guitar, knowing that he would come up with something terrific... I just had no idea how terrific.

Another song from the archive... Written about a friend who somehow seemed to come out of her general sad manner... Thoughts go back to a lunar eclipse when the girl I was standing next to to watch it (way back in college) disappeared from sight…

After listening to Brian's beautiful guitar piece "Mellow," Brian was kind enough to allow me to sing along...
Never saw you coming
Down my lonely road
I never saw you coming
Can't be sure you'll never go
I know you'll be leaving
But I keep believing…

"You gotta put your pencil to the paper. Don't bother with the intricate chords. Hell it doesn't matter if the damned thing doesn't rhyme. Write it down. Run it through. Make some noise." These were actually the first words I wrote when…
All right, so one of those silly songs needed to find its way onto the album. In an effort to teach the students on my middle school team about rhythm in poetry, I wrote this little bit of foolishness about a fictional character (so yes, you…
Just updating all the songs from "Keeping Constant Motion" with versions that have the vocals a bit more up front... Just had to favorite this one. Of all the songs I've ever written, this one and "Amy Pond" are the most requested... Just goes to show that silliness in songwriting often speaks to people more than seriousness.

DREAMS OF THE OCEAN
Your kids'll be waking up in the morning
Just a couple of hours after mine have gone to bed
I've got the coffee warming
While dreams of the ocean are in your daughters' heads
I taught them all 'bout it late last evening…

A song written for a great girl who'll be getting married next year...
"You'll always be this young if love comes first
And you stay filled with life."
First song of the year for me...
Recorded on New years day 2011...
-Good Times-
Words and Music By Tharek Mokbul
These Good Times,
In this Old Life
Are Earned...
Not Learned...
I’ve seen old faces,
Fade away,
In my mind…
Happy New Year, Tharek!
Hey, great track, this one (although I've come to expect good stuff from you on a regular basis). So glad to be the first to come by and hear, comment on, and fave this song!
Damn, Colin. This album really is outstanding... With respect to your commentary on this song, I have my share of re-tweaked songs that I am now utterly unable to play as well... But none of them are this good.
Oh great track right from the start, Colin! Faved at about 0:30. Love the dialed back vocals... Not that the regular explosive vocals aren't great as well, but what a terrific change of pace! Great choice for an album title as well... Many a independent film would benefit from this song on their soundtracks.
Colin, this newest batch of songs you're posting are just outstanding, particularly regarding your vocals... Just great without a note out of place. My daily dose of new Colin has been and will continue to be a welcome distraction from the day.
Jqscutt had this guitar riff that he sent me and we worked out a song with bass, rhythm, lead and drums over the internet. I posted it for a collab for some key additions. This was added by TiS friends K-Lyd and Coruz. Later, they found Liam…
Excellent stripped down track, Peter! Outstanding vocals and rich acoustic tones on that guitar (I'd love to know how you get such a clean sound on that six string).
Great opening line! Faved at sh*t. Great sound on this one, Peter! As always, when I listen to your music I am extremely envious of your masterful arrangements!
I am leaving this week for a while but couldnt resist adding as the third collaborator on this excellent track by Keith Landry and Osckilo before I go.
Added some bass, ambient stings, and of course sleigh bell
Hope you guys like it.
See you…
Holy crap!!! Too cool! Ha... The sleigh bells just kicked in! How much time did you spend on this?!?!... And the laughing. Great interpretation of Osckilo's beautiful arrangement.
Tharek sent me this beautifully played guitar arrangement and told me to have at it with the spirit of Christmas, so I wrote and recorded this little message of hope and peace. Somehow when I write music with and for fellow musicians across the…
Comments on Keith Landry's stuff
Beautiful song all the way around.
Great song and collab. All but one of my dogs are rescue dogs, good man! I really dig your voice, Keith.
I finally have some time to do some Alonetone listening. Glad I didn't miss this one.
Yes, I agree with the others. Very nice!
yes, great lyrics. I agree with Richard, this would have a good feel as a live performance.
What a great collaboration! Just a beautiful song.
nice sweet song Keith!
Gorgeous song Keith!
Awesome back story - you cannot hide your romantic side, and I'm glad you don't try. :-) Lovely song, Keith. Very sweet.
What an interesting story, I wonder if the lady in question would recognise herself now. And a great song too.

Thanks for the kind words!
One, two, three, four, yeah .... I love it when you guys do that! Oh yes, this is a great track. Kavin's spot on too!
All right... So I closed the album with the fun songs (note to self... next time START the album with the fun songs).

You and Kavin nail this one! Thanks for the comments!
I like this song a lot. Love the concept, your vocals, etc etc. And I'm green with envy that I didn't think of it! Well done. ER
How can I not fave a song about pick-up trucks, kids climbing on the dog, and leaving Memphis. And with slide guitar to boot.
great song,, and really great collab
Ah, I thought you wrote it for your daughters. :-( Still gorgeous though!

...And just back again to listen to this perfectly arranged and performed nugget.

Man, just listened to this over on your RPM post... And once again I reiterate... Damn.
Very cool... Great to listen to while grading these algebra quizzes!
Great track! Great rich sound.
Great sound! Peter, this latest batch of uploads is just outstanding.
Even better as it goes along.
Yup, great right from the start.
Faved at 0:05. Love the singing in the slightly lower register. This song has the sound of true authenticity. Just an outstanding track!
Faved at 0:30. I guess I'm partial to the minimalist arrangements... It really allows the listener to hear those outstanding harmonies!

Wow... This is sick.

Tharek's guitar work on this is truly magnificent!
