Flat Pipes Demo
kirklynch
Quick recording of a new set of pipes I’m working on. Long winded explanation- prior to the late 19nth century most Irish pipes featured very small bores and finger holes and were pitched well below modern concert pitch. I’ve always loved them and have knocked out the odd chanter here and there, but never been totally happy with them. Two weeks worth of machine work and I produced a new set of reamers to produce this chanter. This is the 2nd prototype chanter from those reamers. Of course pipes just aren’t pipes without drones, so I cobbled together a set of flat drones by modifying a set of my concert pitch drones. The tune itself is something I wrote ages ago in memory of my grandparents. It never sounded quite “at home” on the concert pitch pipes, but was the first thing I thought of on the flat pipes.
sweet :)

Very nice, very nice, very nice: tune, pipes, playing. You're really dialing in that flat chanter.
