Ride On The Broomstick

Years ago, when I had just started writing songs, I read a novel by Terry Pratchett (Equal Rites) that inspired me to write a song which I imagined as a soundtrack for a scene from the book where Grandma Weatherwax was riding on a broom stick to search the landscape for her lost grandchild.

Unfortunately I had no idea what producing a song was about then. So I did neither mix it (mixing, what’s that anyway?) nor did I save the audio files (it was all midi/vst). The synth plugins I had used were not all mine, so I don’t have them any more - but I was lucky, a guy from a German homerecording site was so kind to render the midi files with the plugins I had used then, and so I was able to do a new version/mix of the song today. I changed it quite a lot, and I also added drums.

This is the result. I hope you enjoy it. If you hate it, feel free to tell me so. If you like it, too. :D

Thanks, Bethan and Terry! I think I'll have to give the strings section a little more attention mixing-wise. Expect an update in a couple of days! :)
