For the Sake of Old Decency
Pennywhistles: Doug Sparling
Bodhran: David Shaughnessy
Composer: Traditional
Recorded: 2005
A set of reels (the first being “For the Sake of Old Decency,” picked up from a Michael Tubridy album of the same name) I put together one evening. You can tell I don’t know them real well. And somehow this track got squashed with compression at the studio, so you can hear all my clunkers with more clarity. I should probably be embarrassed by this track, but Kirk already knows I don’t really care :)
Another rainy morning, lazy mood, and I am listening, Doug, to the Old Stone Bridge tracks and enjoying! I am not a musician, just a lover of good music! Thanks for this and the many unheard yet! Carol Riggall
Terrific fun this Doug. Stand back in amazement!
Good heavens, you are brilliant on the penny whistle. What a performance!
Man - again - nice, tasteful and well recorded stuff! (Thanks again for checking out mi auditory musings.)
HAHA! Laughing at your description. Thanks for reminding me of these tunes. What's the name of the 2nd one? I used to play it all the time
