They Live! 2020 remix

This was originally composed/ performed in 1997. It is one of the few compositions I made with Cakewalk 8 and was able to save. Prior to this I had used a portastudio 1. The tools were a fairly primitive drum machine, mic, original whammy pedal, CZ-101 synth and guitar. The fatal flaw in the original was that I chose to kick off the drum machine and edit it live while singing a capella - naturally I was out of tune with the subsequently added synth and guitar parts. Now, 23 years later I can nudge the vocals back into tune.

The subject matter was the recurring feelings of deja vu in momentary flashes of a scene I felt I had lived before. So the lyrics are about me grappling with this. This no longer happens to me though I think this music has some value, if no other reason than a page in the diary of my life as written in music.
