So, thought it was time to try something a tad more substantial - hence embarked on a Piano Concerto....here is the first movement of my first, in C minor.......
This is probably the final composition for this quite extraordinary year, where I have produced over 30 pieces since March during the enforced hibernation!!
This one I asked the good lady to come up with a title and image....she immediately…

OK, so just in the spirit of the season (!) here's a playfully spooky little creation.....maybe imagine all those skeletons dancing around the place!!! I should maybe pay some homage to Tim Burton/John Williams here...?

:) I thought I'd commented on this one too... (been distracted by Mrs R's latest Christmas film choice ... it's not even December yet!!! It's got Dolly in, though... interestingly she looked older in 1996 than she does now!!) ... Anyways, yes, I like the insistent rhythm driving it on.
Oh yes, like it. And I agree with thetworegs - it does evoke some Christmas vibes (this maybe something to do with the fact my wife is binge-watching Christmas films on amazon prime and I can't really get away from it!!)
It is said that the Valley of the Kings is understandably a haunted and sacred place...hence the start and end of this composition, being no. 7 in the Fusion Soundscapes project....and hopefully evoking a sense of awe and majesty walking in the…
That’s a nice piece of music! I pictured downhill skiing or snowboarding. I’ll admit, we had a whole week of snow last week. That may be why I’m thinking along those lines.
Hi Paul! Thanks for the listens and the kind comments. I am definitely influence by the female folks singers like Joni Mitchell, Allison Krause, Linda Rondstadt...
I’m just listening now to this beautiful piece... your piano brings such a lovely uplift to this... like if they got away from the spooks they’re going to be alright now... happy Halloween 🎃
In Lockdown, I have really been inspired to return to my more classical roots, and have enjoyed playing around with the idea of epic style movie or cinematic themes/trailers. I have imaginatively named them Lockdown Orchestrations No. 1, No…
So, this is completely different!! In a homage to my favourite place to watch live music in the land...Ronnie Scotts....I have put together a groovin' jazz instrumental piece with a 'live' feel....!! Not really fusion as such, but added to the…
Oh yeah, utterly groove-tastic. Superb feel on the playing. I don't really know much about jazz, or fusion, or where the lines are drawn between that and the blues, but who cares, I like what I like and, like the man, says "sublime" ... Love those organ sounds. Niiice.

So, as a major change from countryside walking...a random leap for no. 6 in this series to visit the Greek Goddess of the Hunt...Artemis. More discordant, but hopefully capturing some drama!!
OK, for some reason, this has put an image of Angelina Jolie in my mind... (In a Lara costume, obviously!). Nice one... both the soundscape and the image!
Nice melody with good production just right for this Monday morning getting ready for the school run ..... it’s almost Christmas.although it’s only October ... it gives me that kind of feeling ... thank you
A tale of keeping your head above the water, or not...
Recorded Jan-Feb 2011.
I wrote it many years ago, never thought I'd ever do anything with it.
I intended to record this with just an acoustic and my new EDB (electric upright bass…

Jan 17 2015 - Remixed. I was always kinda disappointed with what the original mix sounded like. Listening to it the other day I realised what it is - I'd mixed the vocals too loud. This reduced the "stereo" and killed off a lot of the life…
Tettigoniidae in Overtones is scored for two Audio Damage Quanta synthesizer, tamtam, two triangles, glockenspiel, snare drum, bass drum, two tamborines, plucked psaltery and french horn all in harmonic series tuning. The synthesizers are purposely…
A symphonic overture. The piece has a fast, rhythmically propulsive 'A' section, a contrasting meditative 'B' section, and a recap with some extensions.
This piece was a finalist prize winner in the 2008 'Realize Music' contest, an international…

And here's another song from 1994, with a sparkling new "Andrew Russe Band" arrangement fresh from the broom-cupboard.
Like most of my songs, it was written with an acoustic guitar, a pen, and an A4 pad. The ones…
Good to get a discussion going now, even if a bit round the houses!! Glad it wasn’t just me re the Floyd thing on this track, and now reading other comments from your thread, I can agree some Tull influence too...a rather excellent combination! I was late to the Floyd party, to be fair, being a total Genesis nut since forever, but then when I was invited to join a PF tribute in 2008 for a few years, grew to love their music totally.....

Hi there...this is the only was I can see to thank you for your regular positive comments for my orchestrations and Soundscapes!! But can I also now say that I love the feel of this track...may I say a bit reminiscent of Pink Floyd?....especially the lead solo..
Lockdown 2020. This was a suggestion by our friend Paul Matthews (check out his page: https://alonetone.com/IlshamOrchestrate )
Paul performed the piano and programmed the drums, strings and guitar tracks.
