Once of City Steve and the Neon Lights. this was my first cover.
This song is done in the style of "the rake Song" by the decemberist. yeah. that just happened.
Wow, what a surprise and honor! Probably would have been a lot easier if I'd shipped you the chords/tabs/sheet music :-) This is really an impressive bit of work, reconstructing a song, with a very different feel, and have that new piece stand so nicely on its own. Well played and sung!
ttfn,
Drakonis
The cover I did off Uglifruit's 2010 RPM submission. The drums are a pair of hotrod sticks, that I made, hitting my keyboard table. The "kick drum is the stick hitting the pop screen while the mic was on.
I still need to fade...
Ha, another marvellous cover of a cracking track! You have such a great knack of picking the right songs! Am loving this spinoff project - hope you're going for the full CD!

I asked to robots to help me write a song in the style of Tom Waits.
Riding on a train to the edge of town
Where the night has just begun
People on the street with nowhere to go
Living hard and having fun
Everywhere I go there’s a song…
Love the electric piano you got going on. One of my favourite tones is a Mark IV through a fender amp with a bit of grit mixed with an organ. Those lead guitar tones are perfect for this feel. Very laid back. If anything on the second solo there are a bit too many notes. Just take some out and it will be perfect... just none of the ones after 2:57; those ones are spot the F* on.
I tried to write a song that sounded sort of like Peter Gabriel. I'm not sure how close I got, but Megan and Jarrett absolutely killed it on this tune.
I can see you in my mind
Like a dream I can’t forget
I’m reaching out to touch you
But…
There is a stringedesqued instrument doing a boldly subtle bit that sounds like a departure from L17 that I like.
Background layered vocal on that third chorus with horns was a nice touch for an outro!
Were you guys aware that I'm a Beatles fan? Because, well.... I am.
I don't want you to come too close
I don’t need you to break the rules
Don't try to play my game
It’s not what you should do
I don’t think we can be friends
I don…
What ever you did with those back ground vocals are simply fantastic! I love the way the line "You won’t find a way back to my heart, I know it’s hard to see" flows, that was easily my favourite part!
Drums sound quiet but this song feels like it has a ton of potential to be something epic! Really loved all of the layers especially in the vocals! Great tones from the guitars!
If tomorrow you find yourself far away from me
Running to another city
If you don't have the time to hide away with me
Disappear into the scenery
Am I no longer worth
The effort to search
For the life we were dreaming
For the love we…
I know sometimes things just ain't right
Like oil and water we survive
Y'know I don't hate you
Maybe we're too much alike
Push and pull
We'll survive
We're not getting younger these days
And we're both sure and set in our ways
We fight…
Broken things on my window sill
Remind me every day
Of my constant lean towards failure
Always getting in my way
Perpetual disappointment
I never follow through
Can't count on me for nothing
I'll only disappoint you
There's a war in…
You gotta work long hours, Grind that stone
Work your fingers to the bone
Gotta make that money while you can
Before retirement and old age sets in
Do what you can for the company and
The boss 'll take care of you
Forget about vacation…
If we take a moment Ignore what divides us two
Just take a moment What would we see
Would I see a brother Might I be your friend
Might there be more that binds us hand in hand
Between you and me are the same old songs
Between you and me…
If I'm out of words
to brighten up your day
All that's left of us
is rust and decay
Remember these moments
more than just alive
Think of these
times when we thrived
If the sun ceases to shine
forever runs out of time
If we're all out…
This is how these things start
My sad excuse for a work of art
Put in the effort, set the pace
Hardly anyone listens anyways
Years of this takes its toll
Only few ever know
All this work done in haste
A whole month gone to waste
Everyday (Rock Remix)
“Everyday” written and recorded February 2021 for the 2021 RPM Challenge.
Re-recorded vocals and remixed December 2021.
Wilson Ng - Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards.
Brian Wood - Vocals, Guitars.
Andy Samford - Guitars…
Bringing back a song from 2011 with a new twist. The song now has drums, bass, and an orchestral backend. This is hopefully part of a larger collection of me reworking older songs with orchestration.
Many thanks to Brian of A Beautiful Scene…
There are too many battles to fight in life, sometimes it's best to just walk away.
Written & recorded Aug 2021 as part of the RPM Challenge: Record Every Month Challenge
Remixed: Sept 25, 2021

Wow. You did a much better job with her songs than I did. Nice work. I really like the transition into Rest.

Interesting to see where it started and where it ended up!
Pretty epic!
So, spit takes are real thing apparently. Cleaning the wall now.
Love the progression and depth to this song. So simple, yet so moving.
This song hits you right in the feels.
Has a very classic sound - love that Beach Boy's vibe with a 90's punk touch! Fantastic song!
I don't want to work anymore...
I could see the lot of us RPMers singing this in a bar somewhere in downtown Portsmouth NH. This could be the anthem to our lack of get together.
And quite the change of pace.. That Dobro is an excellent addition!
Those guitars are amazing! Love the allusion to RPM even if it is self deprecating, it certainly captures the feeling toward record production month.
This sounds like an insane amount of work and pulled it off wonderfully! This is absolutely fantastic!
Fantastic! Love the new vocal take!
This absolutely fantastic! Your voice is amazing!
Great rework of your tune! Glad I could be apart of it!
